Housing support

Our Housing Need team offers a wide range of support, including around homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health and private rented accommodation.

Homeless prevention:

  • There were 2,746 presentations to the Homeless Prevention Team
  • Homelessness advice was provided to 1,823 households
  • We successfully prevented 266 households becoming homeless
  • We have relieved 373 households from homelessness

During 2025-26, our Housing Need Team helped 42 individuals into independent housing with appropriate support, many had been homeless and some were rough sleeping. They recently received a thank-you message from someone they’ve supported who had been sleeping rough and feeling without hope. They kept in continuous contact with him, helping him find a private rental property, supporting him to apply for a grant and relevant benefits and helping with budgeting. He wrote to us afterwards to say that he is now settled, warm, fed and has a job lined up, thanks to the help of our team.

Our Refugee & Resettlement Team welcomed 11 Ukrainian families into the area through the Homes for Ukraine Scheme and supported nine Ukrainian families into their own tenancy, both private and social; they also welcomed one Afghan family into the area under the Afghanistan Resettlement Programme.

DAHA

We are proud of our continuing accreditation from the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) for our proactive approach to addressing domestic abuse. During 2025-26, we supported 192 people to remain in their homes after raising domestic abuse concerns confidentially with us.
