The Housing Ombudsman Service
A resident always has the right to refer their complaint to the Housing Ombudsman at any point. This is an independent service that investigates and resolves complaints about Housing issues across all Local Authorities.
In most cases, the Ombudsman would expect the resident to have completed the Authority’s complaint procedure first. However, all customers have the right to access the Ombudsman throughout their complaint journey. The service can be contacted online or by telephone. Find more details at www.housing-ombudsman.org.uk or by calling 0300 111 3000.
Depending on the complaint reason, complaints can also be made to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (lg.org.uk), which deals with allocations and homelessness.
