Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AAA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Disproportionate burden
North Tyneside Council believes our website should be accessible for everyone. We do not currently intend to claim disproportionate burden for any website content.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents. We are working to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML pages and Open Text Document formats.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- We test all new page templates to make sure they meet WCAG guidelines.
- We plan to move the website to a new platform. As part of this work we will fix outstanding accessibility issues.
- We have developed a digital style guide. This provides accessible components for our developers to use.
- We have produced guidance for staff to help them create accessible content.
