Vehicle licence renewals

To renew your vehicle licence, fill out the renewal form completely, answering all questions, and ensure it is signed and dated. Scan or photograph the completed form, along with any required documents and your insurance, and email everything to taxi.licensing@northtyneside.gov.uk

If you are missing any documents, mention this in your application or email. Be sure to include a contact phone number so the Licensing team can call you to take payment by debit or credit card.

You must apply to renew your licence before it expires and your renewal will only be considered valid when the licence fee has been paid. Currently payments can only be made between the hours of 9.30 and 16.00. If you do not apply in time or do not pay the licence fee your licence will expire, you will have to submit a new application and pay a higher fee. In this case you will not be able to use the vehicle until a new licence has been issued.

When your application is complete, your vehicle passes its test and everything is in order you will receive your new licence by email and a windscreen disc by post. If your application is incomplete but the licence fee has been paid, you will be issued an authorisation letter allowing you to continue to use the vehicle.

If you can't submit your application, please contact the Licensing Office for assistance.

If you haven’t already done so, book a test for the vehicle
