This 2026 update of the Carbon Net Zero Action Plan demonstrates the highlights that have occurred over the past year.
As a Council we have adopted a ‘no regrets approach’ since our declaration of the Climate Emergency in 2019. That means any measures we adopt are beneficial, regardless of whether we meet our ambitious goals.
As well as reducing carbon emissions, our climate actions have several environmental, economic, and social advantages. These ‘co-benefits’ include savings on energy bills, supporting green skills and job creation, public health benefits from active travel, improving air quality, and enhancing our local green spaces.
