To inform the preparation of the new Local Plan, this Renewable and Low Carbon Energy Assessment considers the potential for key renewable and low carbon energy sources within the borough. The assessment provides an evidence base to support the development of a positive planning strategy for renewable and low carbon energy.
As part of this work, the assessment identifies broad areas of potential suitability for wind and solar energy development, which are key sources of renewable energy. This is undertaken at a strategic level to help guide policy development and decision-making, and does not allocate sites or determine the acceptability of individual development proposals.
