Proxy voting
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 17:00 on 28 April
A proxy voter is someone you trust who you appoint to vote on your behalf.
You must already be registered to vote to apply for a proxy vote. You can find out more on the Electoral Commission website.
You can apply online for a proxy vote on the gov.uk website. You should ask your proxy for their permission before you make the application.
Your proxy must be registered and eligible to vote.
A person can be a proxy for two other electors who live in the UK, plus up to two more people registered as service voters.
Your proxy can vote in person at your polling station or apply to cast their proxy vote by post. We will send a letter or poll card to their address giving them all the information they need.
Postal voters are not eligible to apply for a proxy vote.
You may be able to apply for an emergency proxy vote after the ordinary proxy deadline until 17:00 on polling day but only under specific circumstances.
