Noise
We all must expect some level of noise from those living around us. Common, everyday household sounds include TVs and audio systems, washing machines and vacuum cleaners, DIY activities, dogs barking, intruder or car alarms, doors closing, or simply people moving around their homes.
Recognise that your neighbours do not want to hear noise from your home, particularly late at night, or for long periods.
Keep noise (e.g. from the TV, audio sound system, radio) at a reasonable level at all times of the day.
Tell your neighbours if you are going to do anything noisy (e.g. having a party or doing DIY).
Co-operate with your neighbour if they ask you to reduce noise, e.g. you may be able to position your TV or audio sound system away from the walls you share with your neighbours.
Please consider your neighbours if you are planning to use fireworks as the noise can cause distress.
If you are affected by noise, then you can contact North Tyneside Council on 0345 2000 101 and we will investigate the problem if the noise is unreasonable.
