Market management and sustainability
The Council is a proactive organisation, focussed on enabling the right developments within North Tyneside to meet need.
The Council will work in partnership with its local partners from the NHS, Registered Providers, the Probation service, and local community and voluntary groups and organisations to implement this strategy to ensure that the supported housing that is commissioned and provided is effective in meeting the needs of local people.
The Council will work in partnership with Registered Providers and other housing developers/providers to develop specialist and supported housing to meet the needs of local people identified in this strategy.
The Council is committed to working alongside people who need supported housing. The Council will co-produce with a range of people with lived experience its commissioning of supported housing services and the approach to managing the quality of supported housing.
This strategy is part of a dialogue with these organisations and individuals that are interested in delivering specialist and supported housing.
The Council is seeking innovative approaches from their partners, for example, delivering a range of housing sizes, types and tenures that will be appropriate to the needs of various groups in the community, in line with the identified requirements for supported housing.
The Council wants to be involved at an early stage in considerations and discussions regarding the reconfiguration or disposal of existing supported accommodation and care home provision.
The Council wants to agree priority notification/nomination rights on existing and new specialist and supported accommodation, in line with market needs.
The Council is seeking help from providers to develop proposals for specialist and supported housing which are tailored to meet local need and to consult with local communities prior to and during the implementation of these proposals.
Whether you own and lease housing for the purposes of providing supported accommodation, the Council wants to understand your funding model. Where housing is leased, the Council needs to be satisfied that this model is sustainable and in the interests of the intended residents.
The Council wants supported housing providers who are not currently operating in North Tyneside to get in touch and talk through their plans for development of supported or specialist housing so the Council can advise on what local needs are and how providers might be able to meet them.
The Council wants providers to help to contribute to the wider health and wellbeing of all residents, and to work with the Council and others to support community safety through their specialist and supported accommodation services.
The Council wants you to be willing to work with other partners/agencies to help facilitate the delivery of intergenerational and diverse communities.
