WALLINGTON AVENUE, CULLERCOATS

(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025 VARIATION ORDER 2026

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it proposes to make a variation order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order, if made, will be to vary the following orders as detailed below:

A. The North Tyneside (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading) (Consolidation) Order 2025, so that:

  1. No Stopping or Waiting on School Entrance Markings – 8:15 – 9:15 and 3pm – 4pm on Monday to Friday be revoked on the following length of road:
    1. Wallington Avenue, Cullercoats on both sides from its junction with Rothley Gardens to a point 35 metres east of that junction.
  2. No waiting at any time restrictions be revoked on the following lengths of road:
    1. Wallington Avenue, Cullercoats on its:
      1. North-west side, from a point 3 metres north-east of its junction with Wallington Close to a point 10 metres south-west of that junction;
      2. South-east side, from a point 5 metres north-east of its junction with Wallington Close to a point 15 metres south-west of that junction.

B. North Tyneside Council gives notice that it proposes under Section 23(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police, it proposes to establish a new Zebra crossing at:

  • Wallington Avenue, Cullercoats – at a point 7 metres north-east of its junction with Wallington Close and Rothley Gardens.

The proposal will increase safety for all road users and contribute to ensuring that highway conditions are conducive to support greater usage of cycling, walking and wheeling.

Any objections received may be published as part of any reports to councillors on the matter.
