Notice is hereby given that North Tyneside Council has made a Direction under Article 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015 (as amended, re-enacted or revoked).
The Direction relates to development consisting of a change of use of a building from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouses) of the Schedule to the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 to a use falling within Class C4 (houses in multiple occupation) of that Schedule being development comprised within Class L(b) of Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 and not being development comprised within any other Class.
The effect of the Direction is that planning permission will be required for such changes of use within the area covered by the Direction.
The Direction was made on 6 August 2026 and, subject to confirmation by the Council, will come into force on 6August 2027.
The area to which the Direction relates is shown on a map accompanying the Direction and comprises: Wallsend Central, Howdon, Chirton and Percy Main, North Shields, Whitley Bay North, Cullercoats and Whitley Bay South, Forest Hall, Longbenton and Benton.
