North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Orders will be to prohibit all through traffic on the below roads to allow resurfacing of the carriageway.
Battle Hill
A1058 Coast Road
From Kings Vale to Churchill Street Eastbound (last 53m only) and from Churchill Street to Silverlink Eastbound (first 53m only). Alternative routes available via the Coast Road. The proposed temporary Order will come into force on 14 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 31 days.
Chirton and Percy Main
A1058 Coast Road
- Westbound towards top of slip road that leads down to Silverlink
- Westbound just before slip road up to Norham Road - near side slow lane only
- Westbound at bottom of slip road down from Norham Rd to above steam railway track. Alternative routes available via the Coast Road.
The proposed temporary Orders will come into force on 14 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 31 days.
Cullercoats and Whitley Bay South
A193 from Hillheads Road to Marden Road South Roundabout. The proposed temporary Order will come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 14 days. Alternative routes available via The Broadway, Whitley Road, Park View, Norham Road, Front Street.
New York and Murton
A1058 Coast Road
- From Silverlink to Norham Road Eastbound - above Cramlington Wagonway
- From Silverlink to Norham Road Eastbound - just before slip road up to Norham Rd,
- Eastbound under Norham Road - from slip road to slip road including hatched area
- Eastbound outside My Shanghai restaurant. Alternative routes available via the Coast Road.
The proposed temporary Orders will come into force on 14 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 31 days.
Whitley Bay
Whitley Bay Town Centre
Whitley Road from Marden Road/Park View/Whitley Road junction to Park Avenue and Marden Road from Grosvenor Drive to Whitley Road. Alternative routes available via Park Avenue/A193 and Marine Avenue, via Whitley Road, Oxford Street, Victoria Terrace and the A193 and Park View. The proposed temporary Orders will come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 14 days.
Alternative routes are shown above but will also be indicated by on site signage. Access to be given where possible.
