North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on:
Battle Hill
- A1058 Coast Road from Kings Vale to Churchill Street Eastbound (last 53m only). Alternative routes available via the Coast Road.
- A1058 Coast Road from Churchill Street to Silverlink Eastbound (first 53m only). Alternative routes available via the Coast Road.
- Battle Hill Drive from the Coast Road Interchange to Middle Engine Lane. Alternative routes available via Battle Hill Drive, Middle Engine Land and the Coast Road.
Cullercoats and Whitley Bay South
A193 on Hillheads Road / Marden Road South Roundabout. Alternative routes available via The Broadway, Whitley Road, Park View, Norham Road, Front Street
Monkseaton
A191 / A192 at the Rake Lane / Seatonville Road Roundabout. Alternative routes available via the A191 and the A192.
North Shields
Nile Street from Albany Road to West Percy Street. Alternative routes available via the A193.
Preston with Preston Grange
Ayres Terrace on its full length to outside no. 4 Lovaine Terrace. Alternative routes available via the A193.
St Mary’s
- The Links outside The Tavern & Galley Pub (formerly The Brier Dene). Alternative routes via Monkseaton Drive / Earsdon Road / Beehive Road (Hartley Lane) / Blyth Road and vice versa.
- Longridge Drive from Monkseaton Drive to outside number 13. Alternative routes available via Longridge Drive, Rothley Way, Cragside in both directions.
Weetslade
Stalks Road from the junction of Canterbury Way to just after the mini roundabout at the junction of Rayleigh Drive. Alternative routes via Great North Road. Access maintained for residents.
Whitley Bay North
- A193 Park Avenue from Whitley Road to York Road. Alternative routes available via Park Avenue/A193 and Marine Avenue.
- Whitley Road from Park Avenue to Victoria Terrace. Alternative routes available via Whitley Road, Oxford Street, Victoria Terrace and the A193.
- Whitley Road from Marden Road/Park View/Whitley Road junction to Park Avenue. Alternative routes available via Whitley Road, Oxford Street, Victoria Terrace and the A193.
- Marden Road from Grosvenor Drive to Whitley Road. Alternative routes available via the A193 and Park View.
Alternative routes are shown above but will also be indicated by on site signage. Access to be given where possible.
The Order will come into force on 1 November lasting until 31 December 2025.
