HIGHWAYS RESURFACING SCHEME 26/27

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on various roads in North Tyneside to allow full resurfacing of the carriageway as follows –

Backworth & Holystone

A186 Rotary Road from:

  1. Algenon Drive Roundabout to Station Road Roundabout Northbound
  2. Earsdon Road Roundabout to Algenon Drive Roundabout Northbound

Battle Hill

Kings Road North from Glendale Avenue to Mullen Road

Camperdown

B1505 Killingworth Drive / Great Lime Road Roundabout

Chirton & Percy Main

  • Norham Road from Sidmouth Road to A1058 Coast Road Slip Road
  • High Flatworth from Harmar Close to Orion Way

Cullercoats & Whitley Bay South

A191 Hillheads Road 

  1. from Beverley Road to Marden Bridge Middle School Roundabout.
  2. at Marden Bridge Middle School Roundabout
  3. from Marden Bridge Middle School Roundabout to Petrol Station exit road

Howdon

A187 Hadrian Road from Air Products access road to Western Road

Longbenton & Benton

  • A189 Salters Lane

St Mary's

  1. Southbound Red Lion Roundabout to Earsdon Village cross over
  2. Southbound Earsdon Village cross over to Earsdon Road roundabout

 

  • A192 Northbound at the Junction of Hartley Lane to junction of Front Street Earsdon
  • A193 Blyth Road on bend at corner of caravan park

All resurfacing schemes will be signposted with diversions in advance of works starting on site with alternative routes also indicated by site signage. Residents and road users will also be informed through various methods of communication prior to work starting. 

The Order will come into force on 2 August 2026 lasting until 31 October 2026. Works will only take place as and when signage is erected.
