FEBRUARY IN NORTH SHIELDS AND WALLSEND

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make Orders under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Orders prohibits all through traffic on the following, and as and when signage indicates:

North Shields

Belford Terrace Lane At Side And Rear Of 8-118North Shields

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Belford Terrace Lane At Rear of 116 to side of 5 Blanchland Terrace

An alternate route is available via Belford Terrace

The proposed temporary Order is required to excavate on existing stop tap and adjacent service to renew with boundary box and meter and will come into force on 10 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 6 days.

Wallsend

  1. Alexandrea WayWallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Alexandrea Way from outside 23 - 33 Alexandrea Way

An alternate route is available via Bristol Drive

The proposed temporary Order is required To carry out a CCTV Survey to the sewer and will come into force on 28 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 1 day.

  1. Beach RoadNorth Shields

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Beach Road's eastbound lane from the Billy Mill junction for approx 100m. This the lane which leads towards to the coast. Due to the size of the crane a half road closure is necessary.

An alternate route is available via Lynn Road, Billy Mill Lane, New York Road, Old New York Road, Rake Lane, Preston North Road. 

The proposed temporary Order is required for telecoms works which utilise a mobile crane and will come into force on 23 March 2026 lasting until the 24 March 2026. Road will only be closed from 20:00 - 06:00.

  1. Equitable Street Lane, Wallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Equitable Street Lane from the junction with North Road to the rear of number 23 Equitable Street. 

An alternate route is available via North Road, Mutual Street, Elton Street West Lane. 

The proposed temporary Order is required to renew a lead service and will

come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

  1. Hadrian Road, Wallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Hadrian Road from the roundabout with Bewicke Road to a point approx 450m westbound of this. Access to Bewicke Road from both entrances on Hadrian Road to be maintained. 

An alternate route is available via Hadrian Road, Wagon Way, High Street East, Church Bank, Rosehill Bank, Tynemouth Road, Northumberland Terrace, Burn Terrace, Wallsend Road, A19 Trunk Road, East Howdon Bypass, Tyne View Terrace, Bewicke Street.

The proposed temporary Order is required for tree works and will come into force on 16 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 14 days.

  1. Laburnum Avenue LaneWallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Laburnum Avenue Lane at the rear of number 60 Laburnum Avenue.

An alternate route is available via North Road Lane At Rear, Laburnum Avenue, Hawthorn Grove.

The proposed temporary Order is required to excavate and renew a water service and will come into force on 23 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

  1. Station Road Lane At Rear Of 176-254Wallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Station Road Lane At Rear Of 246 - 254

An alternate route is available via Station Road, Hawthorn Grove, Woodbine Avenue

The proposed temporary Order is required for Excavation to renew lead service at customers request and will come into force on 9 February 2026 for a period not exceeding 6 days.

  1. Wylam GardensWallsend

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on Wylam Gardens to  Wylam Gardens.

An alternate route or diversion is not possible with being residential. Resident access will be maintained when required. 

The proposed temporary Order is required To carry out CCTV survey to sewer and will come into force on 2 March 2026 for a period not exceeding 1 day.
