ASPHALT WORK ON VARIOUS ROADS, NORTH TYNESIDE

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on various roads as follows:

Battle Hill and New York & Murton

  1. Coast Road (Eastbound above Churchill Street roundabout).
  2. Coast Road (Eastbound above Cramlington Wagonway). 

These two proposed temporary Orders are required for Patching works and alternative routes will be signed via Coast Road and will come into force on 14 March 2026 lasting until 12 April 2026.

Cullercoats and Whitley Bay South 

Beverley Gardens from No 5 to Cullercoats Primary School. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative route available. Access maintained for residents. 

Chirton & Percy Main

Verne Road Outside numbers 166 and 256. The proposed temporary Order is required for Patching/Speed Cushion renewals with no alternative route available. Access maintained for residents. 

Forest Hall

  1. Elizabeth Drive on its semi-circle. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative route available. Access maintained for residents.
  2. Cresswell Avenue West From Clousden Drive to Felton Drive. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with alternative routes available via Clousden Drive and Felton Drive.

Howdon

  1. Carlyle Street From Bewicke Road to Armstrong Road. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with alternative routes available via Bewicke Road and Armstong Road.
  2. Clavering Street North from Bewicke Road to Norman Terrace. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with alternative routes available via Bewicke Road, Armstong Road, Howdon Lane and Norman Terrace.
  3. Station Road, Willington Quay from the junction of Bewicke Road to the junction of Armstrong Road. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with alternative routes available via Bewicke Road and Armstong Road. 

Tynemouth

Percy Street from Percy Park Road to Hotspur Street. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative routes. Access maintained for residents.

Wallsend Central 

Oak Grove along its full length. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative routes. Access maintained for residents.

Weetslade

  1. Beacon Drive along its full length. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative routes. Access maintained for residents.
  2. Taylor Avenue from Taylor Avenue to Greenfields Community Primary School Entrance and from outside No 5 to no 25. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with alternative routes available via Warkworth Drive and Morpeth Avenue.
  3. Weetslade Crescent along its full length. The proposed temporary Order is required for Micro-Asphalt works with no alternative routes. Access maintained for residents.

Whitley Bay North

Marden Road/Hillheads Road on the roundabout. The proposed temporary Order is required for Resurfacing works with alternative routes available via The Broadway, Whitley Road, Park View, Norham Road, Front Street.

These proposed temporary Orders will come into force on 23 March 2026 lasting until 12 April 2026.
