North Tyneside Council has four leisure centres with swimming pools at:

• Hadrian Leisure Centre
• Tynemouth Pool
• Waves
• The Lakeside Centre

Over 60s Free Swim Friday

North Tyneside residents over the age of 60 can enjoy a free swim at leisure centres every Friday. 

There's no need to book (just pop to reception with your proof of age to process an over 60 free swim easecard, or you can purchase an easecard to provide you with discounts on other activities).

It is advised you check the pool programmes for any scheduled activities, programmes can be found on the swimming pool sections of each leisure centre's web page.

This offer is on every Friday, even during the school holidays.

Under 5s swimming

During term time our leisure centres have a variety of activities for under 5s including Baby Buoys, Baby Time, Ducklings and Toy Time.

Ducklings

Ducklings is an adult and child session where your child can work towards four grades of colourful awards - each with its own certificate and badge!

Baby Time

Baby Time is dedicated time in the small pool for parents and carers to enjoy the water with their baby. Sessions will help build water confidence and provide an opportunity to socialise with other parents/carers and babies. 

Baby Buoys

Baby Buoys is a parent and baby session designed to encourage water confidence in young babies.

Toy Time

Toy Time is an opportunity for babies and children to play with an assortment of toys in the water including watering cans, squirty fish and toy ducks!
