Shiremoor Adventure Playground

Catering for children and young people of all abilities

Shiremoor Adventure Playground is a community-based, inclusive adventure playground catering for children and young people of all abilities.

Play workers are always on hand to help out and support children to use the equipment.

Admission is free, with refreshments for sale at the small café run by local volunteers and supported by the Shiremoor Adventure Playground Trust. Children aged eight and over are able to come and go as they please, children under eight must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 

The playground provides dedicated sessions for children with disabilities and has fully accessible toilet and changing facilities.

There is limited parking on site, although parking is available nearby and it's a short 10 minute walk from Shiremoor Metro station.

The playground is provided in partnership between North Tyneside Council and the Shiremoor Adventure Playground Trust.

Food support information

The Bread-and-Butter Thing offers weekly groceries valued an average of £35 for a cost of £7.50, with packages containing a wide variety of foods, including fresh fruit and vegetables and cupboard staples.

Anyone wanting to sign up to The Bread-and-Butter Thing can do so by texting 07507 237311 with their full name, postcode, and the name of the hub they will be collecting from.

Venue notes

Play staff inspect the adventure playground weekly to make sure it is in good working condition. The site is also checked annually by an independent inspector. We respond urgently to reports of broken equipment, vandalism or broken glass. To report damage to a playground or accidents, contact us on 0191 643 8300.

Volunteering opportunities are on offer for children and adults and include helping look after the playground, organising events, caring for our small animal collection, tending the allotments and helping out in the café. To find out more contact the team on 0191 643 8300.
