15 hours (2 year olds receiving support)
To be able to take up the 15 hours of early education for your two-year-old you must meet the eligibility criteria
Check if you are eligible using the Citizen Portal.
15 hours of early education available for 38 weeks (up to 570 hours per year), which you can use flexibly with one or more providers.
Some providers will allow you to ‘stretch’ the hours over up to 52 weeks, using fewer hours per week
Its available at participating providers:
- Full day care providers (e.g. nurseries)
- Sessional providers (e.g. playgroups)
- Childminders
- Schools with 2 year old places
The hours are available from the funding period after a child’s 2nd birthday.
- 1st April to 31st August birthday - funded place from autumn term.
- 1st September to 31st December birthday - funded place from spring term.
- 1st January to 31st March birthday - funded place from summer term.
Eligible families will receive a code that they can take to their preferred childcare provider to arrange a funded place.
Parents must provide the code to their childcare provider for verification, before a child can take up their entitlement.
If you are not satisfied that your child has received their free place you can use the Authority's complaints procedure.
Non- UK citizen who cannot claim benefits
If you think you are eligible under these criteria you will have to complete a separate application.
