Joint strategic needs assessment (JSNA)

Assessing the needs of the population

We create a JSNA to assess the health and social care needs of our population. This helps improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.

A JSNA is set of reports created by a range of stakeholders to provide an overview of the borough. It is a developmental process. We add topics to our JSNA as and when we identify and understand local needs and issues.

It is a resource to support health and wellbeing planning and commissioning. It is for a range of stakeholders operating across the borough. Or if they are delivering targeted approaches.

It assists in tackling health inequalities. Highlighting differences in outcomes across the borough. Supporting the delivery of the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

Health and wellbeing boards provide local strategic and collaborative leadership. They use the JSNA as a tool. This supports the local service leaders to take a strategic view of the needs and assets in their areas.
