North Tyneside's Elected Mayor joined frontline staff in Battle Hill to see the first Your Neighbourhood Team operation in action.
Residents consistently tell us how much they value clean streets, safe public spaces and quick responses to reported issues, and we’ve redesigned how we manage our neighbourhoods around those priorities.
The new approach brings together staff from across the council, tackling issues like fly‑tipping and overgrowth, and spotting damaged pavements, housing concerns or community safety issues so they can be dealt with quickly.
It’s about being visible in our communities, listening to residents and making it easier for the right teams to respond. You may have already seen the Your Neighbourhood Team branding on uniforms and vehicles across the borough.
Mayor Clark said: "This is a whole new approach the council is taking to delivering our neighbourhood management services.
"Your Neighbourhood Team will be out and about in wards across the whole borough. It's a reorganisation of the way we deliver the services, and it involves a cross-sector of council services, but also close links with Northumbria Police.
"It should enable a more flexible, more effective response to local priorities and I know how important these issues are for our communities, which is why building cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods and town centres across North Tyneside and is now enshrined within our Council Plan. I look forward to seeing improved environments across the whole of our borough."
