Young people from North Tyneside's SEND Youth Forum and Children in Care Council took centre stage in London this summer, sharing their experiences and helping to shape national conversations on education and inclusion.
The group attended the Collective Get Together, a national participation event hosted by the KIDS Participation Team, where they spoke directly with decision makers and contributed to discussions on the National Standards of Inclusion.
The young representatives shared their views on what meaningful inclusion should look like in schools and services, ensuring the voices of children and young people from North Tyneside were heard on a national stage.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity to meet with the Minister of State for School Standards, who listened directly to young people's experiences and feedback, reinforcing the importance of involving young people in shaping policy and services.
The visit showcased the confidence, insight and commitment of North Tyneside's young people, who regularly work with the council to represent the views of their peers and influence local decision-making. Their contribution in London highlighted the positive impact young people can have when given opportunities to influence change.
