From 1 June 2026, a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Youth Hub will operate three days a week, strengthening support for young people across North Tyneside as they take their first steps into employment, education and training.

The Wallsend Youth Hub will bring together key partners under one roof on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including council services, employers and training providers. Two specialist DWP Youth Work Coaches will be based at the hub on these days, providing tailored, one-to-one support.

Young people accessing the hub will benefit from direct links to apprenticeship opportunities, training programmes and job vacancies, with employers and partners regularly invited to engage with candidates.

While the Youth Hub is specifically designed for 16–24 year olds, the wider Working Well partnership will continue to support residents of all ages, ensuring that no one is turned away.

Youth Hubs are a national initiative designed to enhance access to support by bringing services together in one place in a community environment. The Wallsend Youth Hub is one of 80 new hubs announced across the country last month, reflecting a continued commitment to helping young people overcome barriers and access meaningful opportunities.

Karen Clark, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, said:
"This is a significant step forward in strengthening support for young people in North Tyneside. We know that early access to the right advice, skills and opportunities can make a real difference to a young person’s future.

By bringing services, employers and training opportunities together in one place, the Wallsend Youth Hub will make it easier for young people to get the help they need to build their confidence, develop new skills and move into work or further learning.

Importantly, this hub builds on the successful partnership working already in place in our Working Well hubs. It reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that every young person has the support they need to achieve their potential. It’s about removing barriers, opening doors and creating clear pathways into good quality jobs and careers."
