People across the North East are being encouraged to explore career opportunities in North Tynesides expanding green, offshore and engineering sectors at a dedicated jobs event next month.
Jobs on the Tyne will take place at Wallsend Library on 5 June, bringing together a range of leading employers operating along the River Tyne, which is rapidly establishing itself as a centre for offshore, engineering and green technology industries.
Karen Clark, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, highlighted the importance of the sector in supporting local growth and opportunity.
“I’m really excited about the opportunities green jobs are bringing to our borough. It’s creating good jobs, stronger communities, and better lives for local families.
“The River Tyne is becoming a hub for offshore, engineering, and green technology and it is growing quickly.
“At the Jobs on the Tyne event people will have the opportunity to meet employers such as Shepherd Offshore, Smulders and others. They are offering a range of jobs, training opportunities and career pathways in one of the most dynamic and fast-developing sectors on the River Tyne.
“I would encourage anyone interested to attend and find out more about the opportunities available.”
The event will give attendees the opportunity to speak directly with employers, learn about current vacancies, and explore training and entry routes into the industry.
Employers attending include:
- Smulders – offshore wind and steel fabrication
- WD Close – welding, engineering and manufacturing specialists
- Shepherd Offshore – major employer on the Tyne
- Green Tec Recruitment – green energy and sustainability roles
- Kinewell – renewable technology
- Walker Subsea – subsea engineering and offshore services
The event is open to anyone seeking employment, training opportunities or a career change, particularly within the North East’s growing green and offshore industries.
