Request:
Please could you provide me with a list of all Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Vehicles
currently licenced by the Council.
For each vehicle could you supply the following information:
Is it a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle? Is the vehicle wheelchair accessible?
Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle plate number. Registration Number. Date
registered with the DVLA. Vehicle make and model. Vehicle colour. Names of all current
proprietors. Name of the operator/office the vehicle is working for e.g. Blueline, Radar.
I understand you should be able provide the above information for Hackney Carriage
vehicles under the terms of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, in particular Section 41
and Section 42. If you are unable to provide the names of individual proprietors of Private
Hire Vehicles, please can you provide proprietor details where the vehicle is owned by a
Limited Company, Public Limited Company or Limited Liability Partnership. I understand
that Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships are
exempt from GDPR and Data Protection restraints as they are not living persons.
Please can you also provide the operator details as again the operator is not an individual
but normally a company (e.g. Blueline, Radar), This information does not relate to an
individual and no individual can be identified from it.
I would also like you to provide me with a list of all current holders of Private Hire
Operators Licences issued by the Council. Please can you give me the following
information for each licence holder:
Name of the licence holder. Trading name. Business/office address. Number of vehicles
held under the licence/based at the office.

To extract the information requested regarding the date first registered and whether
the vehicle is wheelchair accessible, the records would need to be searched
individually. There is currently no means of extracting this information
automatically. Each individual file will need to be examined. Therefore, this part of
the request is refused under s12 (1) Freedom of Information Act 2000, since the
cost of complying would exceed the appropriate limit set out in the Freedom of
Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
The names of any individual proprietors have also been omitted as this is not a
matter for the public register.
In relation to Private Hire Operators licensed by North Tyneside Council, please find
attached a list of all licensed operators with the information you have requested.
