Education Review: EHCP Breakdown by Year Group and Primary Need (All NEPA Schools, Woodlawn School and Marden High School)

Request:

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information regarding pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across the North East Planning Area (NEPA) schools, Woodlawn School, and Marden High School.

Please provide:

 

1. The number of pupils with an EHCP, broken down by year group (Reception to Year 11, or Post-16 where applicable) for the current academic year (2024–25).

2. The same breakdown for each of the previous three academic years (2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24).

3. For each year group and school, a breakdown by primary need category, for example:

o Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

o Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

o Moderate Learning Difficulty (MLD)

o Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD)

o Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

o Physical Disability (PD)

o Other

4. The number of students receiving SEN support for each 8school, broken down by need and year group. Please provide current data for 2025/26.

 

5. The number of currently elective home educated

children with and without an EHCP by each planning area in North Tyneside. (North East, North West, South East and South West). Please provide the primary need for those children with an EHCP.

 

How many children and young people are currently on a waiting list for a place in a Special School provision? Can you please provide the breakdown by need and year group and if available the total of children on a waiting list for each school requested.

Unable to provide breakdown by primary need due to low number of pupils Electively Home Educated.

The local authority does not hold waiting lists for special schools.

 

 

*Low numbers - This information is withheld under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Code of Practice for Official Statistics requires that reasonable steps should be taken to ensure that all published or disseminated statistics protect confidentiality.

 

To do this numbers less than or equal to 5 are suppressed to protect confidentiality. Disclosure of such information would therefore be in breach of the data protection principles and is therefore withheld under section 40 (2) of the FOIA.
