North Tyneside Community hubs and libraries provide welcoming spaces for families with babies and toddlers where children can explore books every day. Early reading experiences support speech, emotional development, imagination, and school readiness.
The service wants to champion these benefits in a way that feels fun and to help families feel confident and motivated to share stories. By launching a refreshed, engaging incentive scheme during the National Year of Reading….
We are commissioning an artist to create a new library incentive scheme aimed at children aged 0–5 and their families containing a suite of original designs.
The artwork will be used across printed materials, digital assets, and in library displays to encourage early reading, regular library visits, and family engagement with books-. One of the illustrations will also be used for a ‘My First Library Card’ design.
This project has been funded by a small grant received from the Department of Education for The National Year of Reading
