What is council tax?
Council tax is a system of local taxation by local authorities. It is a tax on domestic properties.
You will need to pay council tax in North Tyneside if you;
- are aged 18 or over and,
- live in a property,
- own a property,
- have an active tenancy.
You will not have to pay council tax if;
- you qualify for an exemption
- your landlord or the owner of the property should be responsible
We use the income collected from council tax to fund essential services.
