Four nurseries in North Tyneside have been recognised among the highest-rated in the North East in the latest awards from Day Nurseries.
The annual Top 20 list is based on reviews from parents, carers and guardians, highlighting the settings that consistently deliver high-quality care and early years education.
In North Tyneside, the award-winning nurseries are:
- Footprints Day Nursery Wallsend – a private day care setting providing care for babies and children from six weeks to five years.
- Kids Planet Southridge – a well-established nursery offering high-quality childcare and early education for children through to school age.
- Tynemouth Nursery at Battle Hill – providing a nurturing environment with a strong focus on early learning and development.
- Tynemouth Nursery at Billy Mill – supporting children to grow, learn and thrive through high-quality childcare and education.
The awards reflect the experiences of families and celebrate the dedication of staff working across the early years sector.
Karen Clark, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, said: “Giving every child the best start in life is at the heart of what we’re working to achieve in North Tyneside, and our early years settings play a crucial role in making that happen.
“It’s fantastic to see four of our nurseries recognised in these awards, especially as they’re based on feedback from parents and carers.
“This recognition reflects the dedication, care and hard work of staff who support children to learn, develop and thrive every day.”
Joanne Allan, Company Director of Footprints Day Nursery Wallsend said: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised as one of the Top 20 Nurseries in the North East. Because the award is based on parent reviews, it makes the achievement even more meaningful and reflects the trust families place in our nursery,
“We have always focused on building strong relationships with our children and families rather than marketing campaigns, so most of our recommendations come through word of mouth. To receive this recognition in that way makes the achievement even more special and is a real credit to our caring and dedicated staff team.”
Manager of Footprints Day Nursery Wallsend Michelle Mitchell added: “Winning this award for the second year in a row is a fantastic achievement for everyone at the nursery. Our staff are passionate about creating a happy, safe and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to thrive. We are proud to continue providing high-quality childcare for families in North Tyneside.”
A spokesperson at Kids Planet Southridge said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our nursery has been recognised as one of the Top 20 Day Nurseries in the North East!
“Over the past few months, we’ve made a number of positive changes to better reflect our local community and support the evolving needs of our families, alongside our continued partnership with Southridge First School. Receiving this award means a great deal to us, as it’s based on the lovely reviews and feedback from the families we work with every day.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our amazing families for their ongoing support. Your feedback plays such an important role in shaping what we do, and we’re committed to continuing to grow, improve, and provide the very best care and experiences for all of our children.”
A Spokesperson at Tynemouth Nursery at Battle Hill said: "We are absolutely thrilled to share that we have been voted as one of the top 20 North East Nurseries! This is such a wonderful accomplishment and truly shows the incredible effort, passion, and commitment put in by our fantastic team.
“This is our seventh year in a row receiving some recognition from Day Nursery Reviews, and we couldn’t be prouder of our settings and staff. We are very thankful for the kind words from the parents.”
Nursery Manager at Tynemouth Nursery at Billy Mill said: “I am extremely proud of my team who go above and beyond daily to provide outstanding care for the children within the setting.
“Receiving this award just shows how valued they are as a team and how hard they work in forming not only relationships with our children but with the parents/carers too, which has shown in the very appreciated, lovely reviews we receive online.”
Nurseries are assessed across a range of criteria, including overall quality, learning and development, facilities, and safeguarding arrangements.
