Abandoned vehicles
To report an abandoned vehicle, please email:

Once we have received a report, vehicles are inspected within 48 hours.
If they are found in a hazardous condition or location arrangements are made for their immediate removal and storage for 28 days whilst attempts are made to trace their owners.
If vehicles are taxed and in an acceptable condition and location a seven day removal notice is issued on the vehicle, otherwise a 24 hour removal notice applies.
Please include the following details in your message:
- Where we can find the vehicle?
- If you know who owns it and where they live?
- The registration number?
- What make/model/colour the vehicle is?
- How long it has been abandoned?
- If it has a tax disc?
- Its general condition and if it is causing a particular problem?

If you have a car to scrap the council can arrange to remove it for you, free of charge (conditions apply).
