Elected Mayor of North Tyneside

Since my election in June 2009 I have been working hard to deliver the promises I made to you on the issues that you told me were important to you as residents.

You will no doubt have read a great deal in the press about my 2010/2011 Council Plan and Budget.

My key priority as the Elected Mayor of North Tyneside is to reduce this Council's reliance on borrowing and ensure a stable future for North Tyneside. In order to achieve this, I have introduced a number of measures including substantial reductions in unsecured borrowing and reliance on reserves. At the same time I have been able to set the lowest Council Tax since 1995.

I have laid out in my plan for the future based around six core themes and listed these under 'My Priorities' on the left.
