The Children's Information Service

The Children's Information Service offers free information and advice to parents, carers and employers. The CIS understands the importance of good quality child care information and advice to enable the best choices in child care to be made.

The CIS can:

  • Provide information on the range of child care services within the North Tyneside area.
  • Help you in deciding the most suitable solution for you and your child's needs.
  • Help to put you in touch with suitable child care providers.
  • Provide help, support and guidance to those wishing to develop child care services within the area.
  • Advertise child care services in our "one-stop-shop" or even on the world wide web.

The CIS is working together with the North Tyneside Sure Start Strategic Partnership (SSSP) to provide information for parents, carers and employers on a range of high quality childcare services.

These include:

  • Parent and toddler groups.
  • Nurseries.
  • Crèche facilities.
  • Playgroups.
  • Childminders.
  • Out of school and Holiday Schemes.
  • Playsites.
  • Activities for Children.

The CIS can also advise parents on the help available with the cost of childcare to:

  • Working parents.
  • Lone parents.
  • Students.
  • Parents of 3 & 4 year olds.
