Applying for a Council garage
The Council has garages to let in certain areas and anyone can apply to rent one by filling in an application form. These are available at your local Customer Service Centre or local housing office.
Although anyone can apply to rent a garage they are let on a points system so they go to those in the greatest need. Disabled people, for example, may have a greater need than others, if they require a vehicle to get around.
The rent for a garage varies from area to area. Anyone renting a garage who is not a Council tenant will also have to pay VAT on the rent.
