Please follow our beach safety code:
- Bathe within the designated areas
- Listen to the lifeguard
- Observe the safety flags and signs at all times
- Report any accidents or hazards to the lifeguards
- Keep an eye on the tide and the wind direction
- Use a sunscreen to protect against sunburn on hot sunny days
- Put rubbish into the bins provided
- Observe the dog bans

Water is dangerous, so:

Beach dog bans
Keep dogs on leads on all promenades. Dog bans are effective from 1st May until 30th September.
The beaches involved are:
- Whitley Bay (south end of beach between South Parade and Panama Gardens)
- Cullercoats Bay (the whole beach)
- Tynemouth Longsands (south end of beach - Beach Road to outdoor pool)
- King Edward's Bay (the whole beach)
You will be able to locate at least one beach base, staffed by qualified lifeguards and first-aiders on our beaches, including:
