What is an older person’s champion?

An older person’s champion is an individual or member of the older people’s forum who will use every opportunity available to them to:

  • Challenge age discrimination and work within their organisations and the community as a whole to take positive action aimed at removing policies / practices which result in age discrimination.
  • Ensure that older people are involved and actively engaged in the developing of plans and services.
  • Raise the profile and ensure that services consider the needs of older people living in North Tyneside.
