About Children’s Centres
Children’s Centre programmes involve working with parents and young children, providing integrated childcare with education, family support and health services in order to provide the best start in life for every child.
By bringing together in one building, a range of high quality multi-agency services for children from birth to five years of age and their families/carers, Children’s Centres provide a safe, supportive and healthy environment in which families and young children can learn, enabling children to improve their physical, intellectual and social development.
Parents with young children often have difficulty travelling to different places to access services, so the aim is that Children’s Centres provide a whole range of information and services under one roof, providing advice and support and making it easier for parents, other family members and carers to access services for their child and themselves, helping many families in the early years of their child’s life.
