Local Safeguarding Children Board

The overall aim of North Tyneside Local Safeguarding Children Board is to ensure that the duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children is carried out in North Tyneside.
The core objectives of the North Tyneside Local Safeguarding Children Board set out in the Children Act 2004 (Section 14(1) are:
- To co-ordinate what is done by each person or body represented on the Board for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in North Tyneside; and
- To ensure the effectiveness of what is done by each such person or body for the purpose of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in North Tyneside.
The Local Safeguarding Children Board is made up of a number of local agencies who meet regularly to consider issues related to safeguarding all children and young people in the North Tyneside area.
Agencies include:
- North Tyneside Council Children's Services
- Northumbria Police
- North Tyneside PCT
- Northumbria Probation
- Education Services
- Connexions
- Northumbria Healthcare Trust
- CAFCASS
- NSPCC
