Adult Learning
When you learn with the Adult Learning Alliance you can be confident that you will receive the best quality teaching for adults in the borough.
The recent OfSTED inspection of the Adult Learning Alliance graded us in the top 10% of adult learning providers in the country and concluded that the service to learners is good with some outstanding aspects.
Overall OfSTED highlighted:

- Our exceptional partnership working to improve provision for learners
- An outstanding capacity to improve
The Council's Adult Learning Alliance is contributing to the delivery of a borough which is focused on changing futures - changing lives. With this in mind, I am really proud to tell you of the substantial new investment in the centres where adult learning takes place. The Adult Learning Alliance is the only provider in the North East to obtain a grant of £1 million from the Learning and Skills Council to improve the centres where you learn.
This money will be spent on creating inspiring adult learning facilities across the borough and particularly:
- At Churchill Pavilion - a popular venue on the coast will be upgraded with impressive new facilities
- At Wallsend People's Centre - an imaginative adult learning centre is being created in partnership with the People's Centre
- At Norham Community Technology College - a new construction skills centre shared between the school and the Adult Learning Alliance
- At Monkseaton High School - a complete re-build that will incorporate a dedicated adult and family learning centre
