Re-use and Recycle

Recycling in North Tyneside is one of our great success stories, in the space of only five years, our recycling rate has increased by 659%

Your recycling is collected once a fortnight, on the same day as rubbish collections but at a different time of day. It is collected in a grey wheeled bin with a caddy in the top, for glass only. The main part of the bin is for paper, cans, plastic bottles, cardboard and textiles.

On street recycling bins have been placed in busy areas of the borough, e.g. outside Metro Stations, outside schools, town centres and the seafront. These are for pedestrian litter, such as plastic bottles and cans. They have a limited capacity and are therefore unsuitable for large amounts of materials. If you have large amounts of materials, please use your nearest 'Bring site' recycling facility.

Garden waste is collected once a fortnight on a Friday or Saturday April to September and monthly December through to end March. Please see the Garden Waste Recycling page for more details and call 0845 2000 103 if you need to know your collection dates.
