A record number of green-fingered residents have entered one of North Tyneside's most popular contests.
Over 180 applicants are taking part in this year's North Tyneside in Bloom competition, with judges now out and about choosing their favourites in each category.
All entrants will receive feedback from the judges and the winners will be invited to attend the glittering annual North Tyneside in Bloom awards evening.
The ceremony will take place at Peter Barratt's Garden Centre, Gosforth Park, with prizes awarded to the top three entrants in each category, including new additions "Street Effort" and "Grow Your Own".
Cllr Ed Hodson, cabinet member for the Environment, said: "I'm delighted that there has been a record number of entrants for this year's competition.
"Having so many individuals, businesses and communities taking part really helps the borough look its best.
"The standard of entries is always incredibly high, and I'm certain the judges are in for an extremely tough time choosing their winners."
Categories are: Street Effort; Grow Your Own; Small Garden; Medium Garden; Large Garden; Container and Hanging Basket Display; Community Effort; Street Effort; Residential Care or Sheltered Accommodation; Pub, Hotel or Restaurant; Places of Worship; Business Premises; Conservation and Wildlife Garden; Nursery, School or College; Young Gardener; Individual Allotment; Allotment Site; New Allotment Tenant; Allotment Community Effort.
Each category will marked by a pair of judges, at least one being qualified, including staff from Peter Barratt's Garden Centre who are sponsoring the event.
The Wildlife and Conservation category will be judged by an Ecologist.
