A new appointment has been made to back new businesses in the borough.
Mary Kennedy is the latest enterprise coach to be taken on by TEDCO, a leading company in business development, aiming to help generate prosperity in the region.
North Tyneside Council teamed up with the organisation - with the support of ERDF funding through One North East - to create 'The Business Factory' - a one-stop shop for budding entrepreneurs to get all the advice and support they need.
And after recently joining the team, Mary is now keen to start helping those who already have a potential business idea, develop it further.
She said: "I'm really excited about my new job. My main roles are to increase awareness of enterprise and build trust with people and communities.
"This will hopefully mean they will be empowered to explore their business ideas, overcome barriers and look to work with our business advisors to realise their dreams."
Mary has a diverse working background, including community development, sales and marketing.
Prior to joining TEDCO, she was an engagement consultant and a personal advisor for Working Links, helping people get back into work.
She added: "My current project is looking at getting North Tyneside mothers to think enterprisingly, helping them overcome any barriers they may face if they want to become self-employed.
"My top tip has always been to believe in yourself. It's amazing what people can do when they set their mind to something - and this is a message I'm looking to get across."
For further information, contact Mary Kennedy on TEL: (0191) 263 6092 or mobile: 07824774506.
The Business Factory has a shop at 86 High Street West, Wallsend, where anyone can pop in to have their questions answered or to access the support they need.
