Get on your bike this summer!

That's the message from North Tyneside Council as it hosts a series of fun sessions to help families stay safe when cycling on the road.

Family cycling is a great way to see the sights, get fit, and spend time together - all for free.

The North Tyneside Council cycling sessions aim to turn recreational cyclists into effectual and safe cyclists, skilled for everyday journeys.

Each session includes bike checks and advice on mechanical maintenance and cycling games. Children are then taken out onto quiet local roads where they're taught observation skills, road positioning, and junction techniques. Each event ends with a prize-giving session.

Sessions run from 9.30 am until 12.30 pm and cost just £1.50 per child. Children must be over eight and be capable of riding safely.
