North Tyneside residents are bracing themselves for an evening of swashbuckling action.

On Wednesday 10 March, from 6pm and 8pm, George Stephenson High School, Southgate, Killingworth will host a fencing night.

North Tyneside Fencing Club is launching its community club at the school, which is welcome to people of all ages.

The launch night will include a demonstration by members of the Great Britain fencing team, as well providing people the chance to have a go themselves.

After the first lesson, sessions will then be staggered from 5pm to 9pm in accordance to participants' age and ability.

The sessions will include:

- Mini-fencing for younger children
- Beginner sessions
- Advanced sessions
- Technique sessions
- Fencing demonstrations by members of the GB under-17 and under-20 teams
- Information about fencing

Additionally, the club has wheelchair fencing facilities.

The introductory session is free and all participants must wear a long-sleeved top.
