North Tyneside Council is looking to give people with disabilities a sporting chance.

On Friday 19 March, the public are invited to Longbenton's Oxford Centre, West Farm Avenue, to find out what activities people over-16 with disabilities would like to do.

The aim of the event is to encourage residents to become more active.

Cllr Glynis Barrie, cabinet member for Community Services, said: "This event forms part of the council's Widening Horizons 4 Sport initiative, which underlines the council's commitment to inclusion.

"North Tyneside Council is determined to get more people active, and by finding out what people with disabilities want, we hope to better serve their needs.

"The forum will also be a great chance to discover which sporting clubs will best cater for different individuals.

"I hope as many people as possible can attend. It will be a fantastic opportunity for people, who perhaps have had less chance than others to be active and play sports, to find out new ways to keep fit."

There will be three sessions taking place throughout the day. They will be at:
- 10am - 12pm
- 1pm - 3pm
- 6pm - 7.30pm
