Pupils from St Stephen's RC Primary School in Longbenton will get a taste of the world of work this week as the school hosts its annual Junior Careers Fair.
A wide range of professionals will visit the school from Monday 8 - Friday 12 March to talk to the children about their jobs, and answer probing questions.
Over thirty occupations will represented including surgeons, plumbers, translators, police dog handlers, photographers, journalists and the Royal Navy. Pupils will get to visit a vet, check out a hotel and drop into a hair salon over the course of the week.
Each day, six different professionals will visit the school and pupils will grill them on the best bits and worst bits of their line of work, as well as find out about the qualifications they'd need to work towards if they wanted to be just like them one day!
Head teacher Stephen Fallon said: "As well as being a very fun and interesting week, we're also aiming to get the message across to pupils that no matter what job or career path you choose, it takes hard work and the work starts now.
"We're extremely grateful to the professionals who've offered their time to come and talk to us, and we hope the week will raise our pupils' aspirations and help them acquire a better understanding of the importance of learning."
