Residents are to have their say on the new state-of-the-art community leisure facility in Wallsend.
North Tyneside Council is looking for views on a number of issues concerning the forthcoming multi-million pound swimming pool and gym.
And a questionnaire has now been made available to residents, as the local authority seeks to gain as many views as possible about the development.
The 25-metre six-lane swimming pool, teaching pool and Contours fitness gym is being built at Burnside Business and Enterprise College.
And the survey, which looks at issues such as preferred fitness classes and most popular facilities, can now be found in the February issue of the residents' magazine, Widening Horizons, and via the council's website: www.northtyneside.go.uk
Cllr Glynis Barrie, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "We are asking the people of North Tyneside what they want from this new facility, as it's vital that it meets the needs of the customer.
"As part of our priorities in Widening Horizons 4 Sport, we are determined to provide residents with first-rate amenities, and by gathering as many opinions as possible, we are confident the new community leisure facility in Wallsend will be a success."
Completed questionnaires are due in by 15 March, with the development set to open in the summer.
Every completed questionnaire will receive a one-day free pass to any of the North Tyneside Council Contours facilities, as well as being entered into a free prize draw. Prizes include:
- First prize: one year free Contours membership
- Second prize: six month free Contours membership
- Third prize: three month free Contours membership
The school's existing modern sports facilities are already available to the public and the pool will link to these facilities when complete.
The design of the pool is based on the pool at the award-winning Lakeside Centre in Killingworth.
When completed, the pool and fitness suite will be available for use throughout the day, seven days a week.
