Cycle route maps
The New 2009 FREE Tyneside Cycle Maps
In 2008 the Local Transport Plan Partners in Tyne and Wear and South East Northumberland released a series of six new cycle maps covering each area. The maps replaced the old Tyneside cycle map and were designed to be much more user friendly.
The aim behind the re-vamp was to raise awareness and encourage cycling; they show the entire local road and rail network, on and off-road cycle routes, places of interest, crossing points, cycle shops and cycle parking. And when you're on foot, they double as a handy street map too!
The maps were so successful we have updated them and re-printed a second edition, available from September 2009.
North Tyneside has benefited from an 83% growth in cycle numbers (2004-09). To further support this maps have been distributed to all of our Libraries, main customer service points and Cycle Shops and can be collected at either venue free of charge.
