Pupils at Norham Community Technology College in North Shields are in for a treat on Friday (13 February), when the 'Real Fast Food Show' visits to show them what can go in to the junk food they eat if they choose to skip school dinners and nip down to their local take away instead.

The Real Fast Food Show will see two chefs pitted against each other, giving everyone a real insight in to the way food is cooked, and more importantly what ingredients are used, in both a typical fast foot outlet and their school canteen.

The road show is the latest phase of the School Food Trust's 'GetReal' campaign that aims to raise awareness amongst secondary school pupils of the importance of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.

Head teacher Linda Halbert says: "The roadshow is an interesting and engaging way of getting the healthy eating message across to pupils - hopefully it will be a real eye opener, resulting in some lasting changes for the better."

Brian Dow, Deputy Director of Communications at the School Food Trust, says: "The response to the Real Fast Food Show when it toured early last year was outstanding and this year it is bigger and better. We are taking the show to thousands of pupils up and down the country, in over 40 schools.

"It went down well with both school staff and pupils and left a lasting impact on many, with a number of pupils creating their own campaigns to promote healthy eating within their schools - something we really hope to see this year."

Media invite: Four shows will run throughout the day at the following times:

0840 - 0940

0940 - 1040

1055 - 1155

1155 - 1255
